Running for Raisin Bran

May 15, 2012/ Breakfast, Running/ 0 comments

I took myself out on a four-miler this morning despite thinking it might not be the best idea. Even though my run on Saturday didn’t end in extreme soreness and pain, my legs still needed time to recover from the distance.

I also woke up very dehydrated. Like fuzzy tongue dehydrated.

Given the circumstances, I wasn’t going to be too hard on myself if things didn’t go too well. But I just couldn’t stand the idea of the elliptical or some other machine at the gym and a run sounded so much better. While I do think it’s important to allow adequate rest and recovery time, I also think our bodies know better than the “rules” and I’m not one to sit out a good work out when I’m actually in the mood.

It wasn’t that bad!

About two miles in my legs announced that they were tired but I was two miles from home so those poor legs had to carry me back one way or another so it might as well be at a run. Thankfully the two mile return is down hill and that definitely helped.

Breakfast upon return was cereal, which I’m usually jazzed about but this Trader Joe’s raisin bran just hasn’t been cutting it.

Some defrosted berries berries, a spoonful of chia seeds and a cup of raisin bran topped with almond milk.

I’m really missing my soy milk in cereals. I try to alternate back and forth between almond and soy milk but recently I just haven’t been loving the almond milk. Oh well, just a little left and then it’s back to soy.

I love cereal but it does nothing to fill me up. Knowing this, I packed myself a morning substantial morning snack. Substantial only by my usual standards, which is a piece of fruit. In addition to an orange, I also brought a banana and peanut butter with me to work. I’m sure my tummy will be rumbling by 9.

In addition to a busy day of work, this evening Will and I are looking at the first of two potential new places to live. Let me tell you, finding something in our price range that accepts a dog that’s not the size of a shoe box (you think I’m kidding) has been incredibly difficult and as a result I’m addicted to Craigslist, spending hours on it trying to find that perfect place. I feel pretty good about two we are seeing this week but I’m also trying not to get too excited.

Tonight we are also starting the giant cupcake cake. I’ll probably never want to look at another cupcake after frosting all 200+ of these. Hopefully it turns out!

Have a great day!
